Detail of diabetic retinopathy (DR)
ncRNA name hsa-miR-200b
ncRNA Category miRNA
Disease name diabetic retinopathy (DR)
Species Homo sapiens
Tissues/Cell_line human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs); human embryonic kidney cell line HEK293A
Methods microarray, luciferase reporter assay, ELISA, tube formation assay, immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization
Expression pattern down-regulated
Functional description In the retina, miR-200b was localized in neuronal, glial, and vascular elements. Transfection of endothelial cells and intravitreal injection of miR-200b mimic prevented diabetes-induced increased VEGF mRNA and protein. Also prevented were glucose-induced increased permeability and angiogenesis.
